Peggy Lee Hamby, 69, Hendersonville, TN, formerly of Kingsport, went peacefully to be with the Lord early Tuesday morning May 15, 2007 at NHC of Hendersonville.
Born in Tampa, FL, she moved to the Kingsport area as an infant. Peggy was a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School's Class of 1957. She was a member of Kingsley United Methodist Church. Mrs. Hamby retired in 1991 from F. W. Woolworth Company after many years of service.
Peggy moved to Hendersonville in 1999 to be close to her children. There she was an active member of the Hendersonville Senior Citizen's Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David C. Hamby; parents, Verlin Lee and Stella Sproles; one brother, Billy Sproles; and one sister, Linda Lowe.
Surviving are one daughter, Kristina Hamby Collins and husband, Mark, Hendersonville, TN; one son, Michael Hamby and wife, Deborah, White House, TN; four grandchildren whom she adored, Clinton Collins, Caitlyn Collins, Cameron Collins, and Coty Hamby; one brother, Larry Sproles and wife, Connie, Charleston, WV; one special niece, Kim Moore, Blacksburg, SC; special great-niece, Melanie Moore, Blacksburg, SC; and special friends at Christian Manor Apartments in Hendersonville. .
The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.
Services will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
