Perry Douglas Long, 42, of Kingsport, went to be at peace with Jesus on Saturday, February 13, 2010, after a brief illness. Born in Kingsport, where he lived most of his life, Perry graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School and entered the U.S. Army shortly after graduation. While in high school, Perry played football and ran track. He had worked at Tele-Optics for many years and was currently working as a Systems Analyst at Eastman Chemical Company. Perry was a loving husband, father, son, brother, son-in-law, and friend.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Maurice "Reese" Long.
Perry is survived by his wife, Melanie Jaye McKinney-Long, of the home; daughter, Taylor Jaye Long of the home; sons, Jaryd Thacker of Church Hill and Bryson McKinney Long of the home; mother, Mary Elizabeth Long of Kingsport; sister, Melisa Long of Kingsport; brother, Phillip "Meech" Long of Birmingham, AL; and one nephew and two nieces.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday February 19th, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of the First Presbyterian Church, Kingsport, with Rev. Frank Waldo and Rev. Donny Wade officiating.
