James Phillip Castle, 89, of Kingsport, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2019. He was born in Sneedville, TN on February 28, 1930. Phillip completed Barber School in 1955. He worked at Model Barber Shop in downtown Kingsport for 20 years. In 1975 he opened and operated Castle Barber Shop in the Bloomingdale Community, until February, when diagnosed with Leukemia. Phillip loved flea markets and shooting guns.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Faye Castle; parents, Simon and Nishie Castle; stepmother, Pearl Castle; and siblings, Kermit Castle and B. Castle.
Phillip is survived by his children, Philip Wayne Castle and wife Linda, Teresa Carr and husband Darrell, Glenn Castle, Donna McConnell and fiancé Phillip Hutchins; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and siblings, Joyce Winstead and husband Robert, Paul Castle and wife Faye; and Billy Castle and wife Caroline.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday, April 1, 2019, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.
The graveside service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2019, at Oak Hill Memorial Park with Pastor Robert Fletcher.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
