Phyllis Jean Akers, 65, of Kingsport, went to her heavenly home to be with her Lord on December 25, 2010, after a lengthy illness.
Phyllis Jean was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mattie Hutchins, and a brother, James George "Pete" Hutchins.
She is survived by a daughter, Renea Adams and husband, Thomas, of Kingsport; a grandson, Tyler Adams; siblings, Arbuta Church and husband, Jack; Thomas Isaac Hutchins and wife, May; Jimmy L. Hutchins and wife, Judy; Nancy Chapman and husband, Robert; Mary Massengill; and Vicky Seigler, all of Kingsport; special friend, Norma Frazier; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Rev. Don Madden officiating. Music will provided by the True Faith Quartet.
Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Charles Massengill, Chuckey Hutchins, Jake Hutchins, Rocky Hutchins, Johnny Chapman, and Jerry Hutchins. Honorary pallbearer will be Tyler Adams.
