Phyllis Krell, 85, of Kingsport died Monday, June 25, 2007, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.

She was born in Newtown, Connecticut, and grew up in LeRoy, Michigan. Phyllis married Max Krell in 1944, was a graduate of Central Michigan University, and received a Master?s degree from East Tennessee State University. She was a Special Education Teacher for Kingsport City Schools Palmer Center. After retirement she served as a volunteer for Holston Valley Medical Center, did volunteer work for the Red Cross, and served on the Board for Kingsport Girls Club. Phyllis was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church for 59 years and very active with work in the church.

Her parents, Edwin and Edith Johnson; and an infant brother preceded her in death.

Surviving are her husband, Max Krell of Kingsport; one daughter, Ann Krell Hollis and husband, Joseph, Boston, Massachusetts; one son, James Max Krell and wife, Linda, Roanoke, Virginia; six grandchildren, David, Tim, Robert, Jameson, Ben, and John; one sister, Norma Pence of Massachusetts; and one niece and four nephews.

Those desiring may make contributions in memory of Phyllis Krell to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 800 Broad Street, Kingsport, TN 37660 or to the charity of one?s choice.

A memorial service will be conducted at 3pm Saturday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Steve Counts officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service at the church.
