Polly Tester

Polly Tester, age 86, of Church Hill, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Holston Valley Medical Center. Born in Rogersville, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Thurlie and Clara Duncan Morelock. Polly lived in this area all of her life.

Polly retired from Raytheon Corporation after several years of service. She was proud of the fact that she helped to produce the Patriot missile. Polly enjoyed working in her garden, mowing her lawn and burning brush.

Polly was a member of Mt. Carmel Freewill Baptist Church. Above all, her faith was most important to her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thurlie and Clara Duncan Morelock; husband, Glen Tester; brothers, Kermit and Ed Morelock; and sisters, Edith Adams and Bella Arnold.

Polly is survived by her daughter, Tami Shankel and husband Mark; grandchildren, Jennifer Shankel of Kingsport, Matthew Shankel and wife Alisha of Ohio, Coby Shankel of Kingsport; and Elijah Shankel of Ohio, great-grandchildren, Mason, Mattie and Mackinley Shankel of Ohio; sister, Shirley Pyle; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nursing staff at Holston Valley Medical Center and Dr. Moon, Dr. Moss, and Dr. Belichick for their kindness.

A graveside service will take place at 11am on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at Mt. Carmel Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.
