R. Glen Williams, 75, of Church Hill was called home on Monday, June 6, 2016 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. Born in Kingsport on December 17, 1940, a son of Dorothy "Dot" Hall Williams and the late J.W. Williams, he has resided in this area all of his life. He graduated from Lynn View High School in 1958. Glen was a member of Vernon Heights Baptist Church and retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1989 following 22 years of services as a Tech Sgt. Glen retired from Tennessee Eastman following 30 years of service, and has been employed by Federated Auto Parts. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, dad, papaw, brother, and friend who loved his wife and children.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Betty Lou Shipley Williams on May 8, 2016.
Glen is survived by his mother, Dorothy "Dot" Hall Williams of Kingsport; sons, Mark G. Williams of Church Hill, and Roger Matt Williams of Fall Branch; daughter, Lisa P. Holding of Kingsport; one granddaughter, Corie Hall and husband Shawn, of Rogersville; one grandson, Jake Quillen of Kingsport; one great-granddaughter, Rylee Sophia Hall; one brother, Ray Douglas Williams and wife Lesa, of Knoxville; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. on Monday, June 13, 2016 at Vernon Heights Baptist Church. Celebration of Life will follow at 6 p.m. with Pastor Mike Anglin officiating. Special music will be provided by grandson, Jake Quillen.
