Rachel "Amanda" Proffitt

Rachel “Amanda” Proffitt, 41, left this earth peacefully, yet unexpectedly at her residence on September 21, 2024. 

Born on September 19, 1983, Amanda lived a great life. She was a member of the band and graduated in 2001 from Daniel Boone High School. Amanda went on to graduate from nursing school and chose to be a Home Health Care nurse, which she loved tremendously. She loved all the patients that she has cared for all these years.

Amanda loved to cook and always loved trying new recipes. She loved the outdoors and just simply riding around with the windows down listening to music. She loved crocheting and spending time with family, friends and her fur baby, Frankie. She loved making people laugh and could light up a room with her beautiful eyes and smile.

Amanda was preceded in death by her father, Floyd C. Proffitt “Flip”; stepfather, Ray Ward; maternal grandparents, James M. and Norma “Granny Fred” Johnson and her fur babies, Chelsea and Loki.

Those left to cherish her memory are her mother, Barbara Ward; sister and brother-in-law, Rachel and Logan McDavid; favorite and special niece, Kaylee; nephew, Liam; uncle and aunt, David and Judy Johnson; cousin, Brooke and Billy Denton, Sophie and Claire Denton; great-aunts, Willie Horton and Neshma Riggs; several cousins, as well as her special friends, Amy, Crystal, Jess, Heather and Leia.

Amanda was and will always be our “Sunshine.”
