Jesus called, Rachel answered, on Monday, August 18, 2008, at her home. She was born March 4, 1930, to Palmer and Annis Wade who are now deceased. Rachel was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Simpson; one son, Steve Simpson; one daughter, Sandra Gail Simpson; brothers-in-law, J. P. Sauceman, Fred Simpson, Walter Simpson, Ray Simpson; Cletus Conkin; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Clyde and Ellen Simpson.
Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Bill Hughes of Church Hill; daughter, Sharon Gaddy of Kingsport; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Ronnie Roberts of Baileyton; sons, Danny Simpson of Fall Branch, Randy Simpson of Kingsport; grandchildren, Lisa and Lorren Roark of Georgia, Michelle and Ricky Hale of Greene County, Brandy McLain and Wes of Georgia, Ronnie Heath and Nakita Roberts of Kingsport, Sandra Gail Gaddy of Kingsport, Adam Roberts of Kingsport; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters and husbands, Giftie and Dana Kyte of Fall Branch, Betty and Hisel Hensley of Kingsport; brother and sister-in-law, Clarence and Eva Simpson of Kingsport; sisters-in-law, Margaret Conkin of Kingsport, Ruth Simpson of Fall Branch; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Griff and Susan Griffith, the Lester Jarrett family, Jim Collins, Francis Matthews, Jerry Adams, the Larry Greer family, Leonard and Elizabeth Smith, and Bert and Juanita Whittamore and family.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport, and any time at the home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Bob Simpson officiating. Burial will follow at McPheeter's Bend Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ricky Hale, Lester Simpson, Jerry Overbay, Terry Overbay, Bill Hughes, Danny Jarett, and Bert Whittamore.
