Ralph Hampton Bradley, 87, of Kingsport, died February 11, 2007 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. He was born in Kingsport, Tenn. on April 11, 1919 and resided in Kingsport most of his life.
Mr. Bradley was a veteran of WWII with the 230th Field Artillery Battalion of the 76th Division where he earned the rank of Captain. He was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star, and the Purple Heart. Mr. Bradley worked for Mitchell Powers Hardware and after raising his family worked as Sullivan County Assistant Road Commissioner for several years.
Mr. Bradley was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church where he volunteered for the food pantry.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a sister, Mary Ellen Partain, a brother James Bradley; a son Charles Rawlings Bradley and a daughter-in-law Barbara Ann Sandidge Bradley.
Surviving are one son, Ralph Hampton Bradley Jr. and his wife Gerri of Maryville, Tenn. and three daughters, Melinda Bradley Spence and her husband Gordon of Virginia Beach, Va., Elizabeth Bradley Fleming and her husband Todd of Waynesboro, N.C., and Olga Bradley Davis and her husband Joe of Kingsport. He had 10 grandchildren and 8 great grand children.
Services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with The Rev. Edward J. Mills, III officiating. Burial will take place immediately afterward in the church memorial garden. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the services.
