Ralph Hood, 80, of Kingsport, died Tuesday morning at Indian Path Medical Center after an apparent heart attack. He was a lifelong resident of Sullivan County. Ralph was a 1949 graduate of Sullivan High School. He had worked for the Army Store, Bowers Department Store, Anderson Ford and was a Mac Tool Distributor at the time of his retirement. Ralph attended Depew s Chapel Church and was treasurer of Depew's Chapel Cemetery Fund. The family would like to thank the dialysis staff at Indian Path and the ICU staff there as well.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Ivar and Lillie Hood.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Churchwell Hood of the home; daughter, Penny Hood Watson and husband Dr. Barry K. Watson; and granddaughter, Laura Grace Watson.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Nathan Ware and Rev. Paul Lane. Music will be provided by The Crawfords.
Burial will be on Friday at 11:00 a.m. in Depew's Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Johnny Hubbard, Johnny "Scooter" Hubbard, Kenneth Coates, DeWayne Coates, Dr. Barry Watson, and Jackie Strickler. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Depew's Chapel Church.
