BOLD PRINT: RAY BUCKLES
Ray Buckles, 62, of Kingsport passed away Thursday, January 11, 2007 at his home among family and friends.
Born in Sullivan County, where he lived his entire life, Ray was a graduate of Ketron High School and a veteran of the National Guard. He worked most of his life in radio, having announced for several area school sporting events. Other than his great love for radio, he enjoyed watching NASCAR, Tennessee football, and basketball. Ray had a love for people and talking to them.
He was a member of Mount Vernon Independent Methodist Church.
The family expresses a special thanks to Adventa Hospice for their loving care.
His parents, William N. Buckles and Roxie Doran Buckles; brother, Donald Lee Buckles; several uncles; and one aunt preceded him in death.
Surviving are three daughters, Tammy Clark, Kingsport; Traci Chandler and husband, Brian, Chilhowie, VA; and Kristen Rogers of Kingsport; one son, Scott Buckles, Kingsport; his special love and caregiver, Cheryl Roberts, Mount Carmel; one brother, Wayne Buckles and wife, Debbie, Kingsport; one niece; one nephew; two uncles, Lawrence Doran, Youngtown, OH and Clayborn Buckles, Kingsport; special aunt, Eva Mae Buckles, Kingsport; and aunt, Bobie Mullins of Youngstown, OH.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with Dr. Grady Lee and Rev. Gale Hartley officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Hermon United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Junior Crawford, Nicky Keirsey, Charles Renner, Richard Fleming, and Mike Dorton.
