Ray Hayes

Ray Hayes, 96, of Fall Branch community, passed away on Thursday, April 5, 2018. Ray served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater, and retired from Eastman Kodak after 45 years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Fall Branch for 33 years. Ray was a NASCAR fan for years, and loved farming and his cattle and being outdoors.

He was preceded in death by two sons, an infant son, and Tommy "Bo" Hayes in 2007; parents, George and Clyde Hayes; twin brother, Dennis Hayes and wife, Maxine Hayes; sister, Gladys McCrary; and infant brother, Ralph.

Ray is survived by his wife of 71 years, Dorothy Young Hayes; son, Brian Hayes and wife, Buffy of Fall Branch; daughter, Karen Hayes of Kingsport; granddaughter, Brooke Beede and husband, Jason; several nephews and cousins and a host of friends; and special friends, Danny Jones, Jim Hayes and Betty Jean Dawson, who was like a daughter.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 8, 2018 from 1 to 3:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Fall Branch. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm with Rev. Vic Wallace officiating. Burial will follow at First Baptist Church of Fall Branch Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Danny Jones, Randy Hayes, Todd Hayes, Randall Phillips, Johnathan McCrary, Chris Depew, and Glen Hillman. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Hayes, Bud Cox, Jim Dawson, Jerry Price and Gary Falin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fall Branch Volunteer Fire Department c/o BJ Dawson, P.O. Box 84, Fall Branch, TN 37656.
