Ray Oaks

Raymond "Buster" Oaks, 54, of Kingsport, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, February 27, 2008, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.

He was a lifelong resident of Kingsport and attended the Assembly of God Church. Buster graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School and Northeast State where he received a degree in electricity. He worked for the Sullivan County School System where he retired due to health conditions.

He was a loving father, papaw, brother, and uncle.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Mary Oaks and Lonnie Oaks, Sr.; and an infant sister.

Survivors include a daughter, Brittany Oaks and fiancé Michael Wyatt of Kingsport; one very special grandson Wesley Oaks, Kingsport and one grandchild-to-be; mother of his daughter, Tammy Oaks; one sister, Nancy Louise Oaks and fiancé Bethel Mack Payne, Kingsport; brothers, Lonnie Oaks Jr. and wife Carolyn of Kingsport, James "J. B." Oaks and wife Locella of Kingsport, Harold Oaks of Bristol, TN, Doug Oaks of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and a host of friends.

The family will receive friends any time at the home of Brittany Oaks at 1304 Holyoke Street, Apt #21 or the home of J. B. Oaks at 1909 Granby Road. They will also receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 8:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor M. LeBron Palmer and Rev. Charles Bogle officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
