Raymond E. Riddle, 93, Colonial Heights, died at 3:00 am Monday, February 15, 2016, at his son's home in Hampton, following complications of a stroke. Born and raised in Unicoi County, he was a Veteran of World War II, U.S. Navy from 1942-1948. Ray served aboard the USS Core, the only ship in the U.S. Navy to sink 2 U-boats in one day. He worked with Eastman for 44 years, retiring in 1984. Ray was a member of Sinking Creek Lodge #575, Gray, TN, Free and Accepted Masons.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Esther Riddle; wife, Pauline Riddle; brother, James Herman Riddle; sister, Margaret Ruth Marsac; aunt, Maggie Riddle; and hunting buddy, Harry Ray Garland.
Ray is survived by his son, Ken Riddle and wife, Norma of Hampton, TN; two grandsons, Clint and Tyler Riddle; cousin, Howard Riddle of Pilot Hill, TN; several nieces and nephews; and Gail Myers, his pal.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 5:30 - 7:30 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 7:30 pm with Rev. John Edwards officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, Office of Development, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa FL 33607.
A private graveside service will be held at Mountain Home National Cemetery.
