Mick
Don't grieve for me, for I am Home. I have gone to be with the Lord. I was called to be by his side Saturday, October 18, 2008. I was surrounded in love by those that I cherished the most - my family and friends - those dearest to me as I fought my battle.
Born February 11, 1942, Mick was a life long resident of Kingsport. He loved his town and was very supportive of Kingsport's growth. He graduated from Dobyns Bennett High School, attended ETSU, worked at Tennessee Eastman for 15 years before buying the Carriage House Shoppe, Inc. in downtown Kingsport in 1975. Mick has been an active member of AA for 17 years. He was a recent member of Christ Fellowship Church where he was greatly enjoying learning more about his Lord.
Those called before him: mother, Mildred Dunkin, father, Ray Dunkin, Sr., brother, Mike Dunkin, son-in-law, Chris Penley, mother and father-in-law S.K. and Uanita Hurst, with whom he walks hand in hand now.
Left behind for now: his precious wife, Patsy H. Dunkin Pat who was his best friend, high school sweetheart, wife, the mother of his children, and lifetime partner. His darling children: Teresa Willis Terri and Raymond Milton Dunkin, III Dunk. His very special grandchildren: Maranda Penley Demuth, Laurel Anne Willis Annie and Raymond Milton Dunkin, IV Ray for whom he was very proud. His great-granddaughter and our beloved little angel, Shelby Anne Demuth. An unforgettable circle of friends and countless others who have been a constant blessing. Just to mention a few: David Foulk, Mike McLaughlin, Paul Adams, Jerry Kelly, Dr. Arif Shaikh, Dr. Mack Hicks and the entire medical staff who were so helpful and encouraging.
Mick's wishes were to be cremated with no formal visitation at the funeral home. The family will be celebrating his life with a simple memorial service on Tuesday, October 21 at 6:00 p.m. at Christ Fellowship Church with Pastor Greg DePriest and Rev. Fred Mays officiating. A brief visitation will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made for the placement and maintenance of a Memory Garden where his ashes with be placed. Mick loved working in his yard and pulling weeds when he could. Please send any donations to 1514 Linville St. Kingsport, TN 37664.
We would like to thank all who loved and befriended Mick Dunkin. He was greatly loved and will be missed by all who knew him. He now resides in our hearts; he is our special angel and will continue to watch over all of us. We love you, Mick. Thank you for sharing your life with us.
