Regina Amyx ?Deenie? Summitt, 44, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 14, 2007, after a brief illness. She was a lifelong resident of Kingsport and a graduate of East Tennessee State University, where she received a degree in Nursing. Deenie had formerly worked as an as an obstetrics nurse at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
She was preceded in death by a nephew, Brent Byington.
Surviving is her husband, Michael Summitt, of the home; one daughter, Victoria Hawkins, and Scott, of Blountville; one son, Adam Hawkins, and wife Crystal, of Kingsport; a stepson, Zack Summitt, of Kingsport; five grandchildren, Tyler, Mason, Alex, Jacob, and Ivan; her parents, Ray and Iva Amyx, of Kingsport; two sisters, Sharon Jones, and husband T. J., of Virginia, and Debbie Byington, of Kingsport; two brothers, Ray H. Amyx, Jr., of Kingsport, and Kenneth Amyx and wife, Debbie, of Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be conducted at Hamlett Dobson Funeral Home Chapel, downtown Kingsport, on Monday at 3:00 p.m., with Pastor David Salley officiating. Friends may call from 2:00 until 3:00 Monday at the funeral home, or anytime at the home of Debbie Byington. Burial will be at the Hermon United Methodist Church Cemetery in Scott County, Virginia. Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
