Rev. Dewey McCloud, 82, of Kingsport, died Sunday evening, June 10, 2007, after an extended illness.
Born in Scott County, Virginia, he had resided in Kingsport most of his life. Mr. McCloud served as a sergeant in the U. S. Army during World War II. He retired from J. P. Stevens, was a carpenter by trade, and pastored at Hall St. Holiness Church for 55 years.
Preceding him in death were his parents, George and Georgia Lee McCloud; an infant daughter, Linda Fay McCloud; sisters, Lula Ketron, Frances Noel, May Begley, Vangie Simpson; and a brother, Bruce McCloud.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Bertie McCloud, of the home; one daughter, Shirley Castle and husband, Rev. Doyle Castle, Kingsport; three grandchildren, Allen Castle and wife, April, Sherry Yonts and husband, Duane, and Don Castle and wife, Rhonda; eight great-grandchildren, Jeff Castle, Brittany Castle, Stephanie Castle, Allison McDavid, Cody Yonts, Chelsea Yonts, Casey Castle, and Lane Castle; three sisters, Elizabeth Mowdy, Maude White, Ivanell Hall, Margaret Smith, all of Kingsport; one brother, Jerry McCloud, Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport, or any time at the home of the granddaughter, Sherry Yonts, 521 Feather Court, Kingsport.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hall St. Holiness Church with Rev. Charles Mowdy officiating. Graveside services will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park with military rites by American Legion Post #3/265.
Pallbearers will be Don Castle, Cody Yonts, Allen Castle, Jeff Castle, Tim Presley, Eathan Presley, and Matt McCloud.
