Rev. Donald L. Douglas, 89, of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 29, 2011.
He was a caring and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather who loved God with all his heart and soul. He never met a stranger and was always there for anyone who needed help or a prayer.
Rev. Douglas was preceded in death by his wife, Rosalee Douglas; a son, Charles Robert Douglas; his parents, Inez and Thomas Douglas; granddaughter, Brittini Kenese Gilliam; son-in-law, Ronald Lee Sims; and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include six daughters, Gwen Sims of Rogersville, Carol Laughlin and husband Wesley of Mosheim, Deloris Crawford and husband Gene of Kingsport, Charlotte Kistner and husband Jimmy of Kingsport, Marie Carter and husband Wallace of Church Hill, Donna Gilliam and husband Kenneth of Church Hill; two sons, Donald J. Douglas, Jr. and wife Evelyn of Washington County, TN and Josh Douglas of Virginia; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother, Edward Douglas and wife Lilly of Kingsport; two sisters, Geneva Bullis of Kingsport and Gladys Collins of Ohio; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Debbie Sturgill.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport, or anytime at the home of Gwen Sims, 2671 Beech Creek Road, Rogersville.
Services will be conducted at 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Charley Jarrett and Preacher Ronald Sims officiating.
The graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Oak Hill Memorial Park with military rites by the American Legion Posts #3/265.
Pallbearers will be Josh Douglas, Scott Crawford, Dustin Carter, Tyler Carter, Kevin Crawford, Mike Kistner, Steve Sims, and Jeff Sims.
