Rev. Edward Orville Rogers, 72, of Kingsport, entered into eternal rest with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, August 1, 2013. Orville was a Vietnam Veteran, serving in the United States Army. He retired from Tennessee Eastman after 28 years of service. Orville pastored several local churches and was a faithful member of Blessed Hope Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend to many and a true soldier for the Lord.
Orville was preceded in death by his parents, Tip and Laura Rogers; seven brothers and sisters, Ruby, Helen, Jess, Margaret, Lois, David and Joan; and niece, Heather.
He is survived by his loving wife, Imogene Rogers; daughter, Julie Rogers-Carliss of Kingsport; daughter & son-in-law, Jennifer Hutson and husband, B.J. of Blountville; two grandchildren, Hannah Carliss and Gunnar Hutson; sisters, Lorene Mullins and husband, Gene, Jenny Kinsler, and Dottie Lane and husband, Mike, all of Kingsport; brothers, Frank Rogers and Harvey Rogers, both of Gray; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friends, Roger Combs and wife, Sandra of Blountville.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 5-8:00 pm at Macedonia Freewill Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday at 2:00 at Macedonia Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Todd Jennings, Rev. Travis Pearson and Rev. Earl Hulse officiating.
Burial will follow the funeral service in East Lawn Memorial Park with Military Graveside Rites by American Legion Posts 3/265..
Pallbearers will be Ancel Presnell, Sr., Dustin Nunley, Brandon Derting, Mike Hale, Bill Long, Rodney Mullins, Roger Combs, Gunnar Hutson and Hannah Carliss.
