Rev. Joe Herron, 73, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday morning, August 29, 2012 at his home after an extended illness.
He was a lifelong resident of the Bloomingdale community and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Joe pastored Emmanuel Baptist Church for over 25 years. He was currently a member at Homeland Baptist Church.
His parents, Jay and Lassie Herron, preceded him in death.
Joe is survived by his wife of 53 years, Toby Herron, Kingsport; one son, Jeff Herron and wife Michelle, Kingsport; three grandchildren, Ashley Blankenbeckler and husband Adam, Rebekah Davis and husband Matt, Jason Herron and wife Tori; one brother, Tommy Herron and wife Josephine, Kingsport; and one sister, Janie Carter and husband Bill, Gate City.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, August 31st at Homeland Baptist Church. Services will follow at 7 p.m. with Evangelist David Harrison and Pastor J. W. Depew officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted on Tuesday, September 4th at 1:00 pm at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Military graveside rites by American Legion Posts 3/265.
Pallbearers will be Ken Denny, Jr. Crawford, Joey Clay, Willie Hamilton, Matt Davis, and Bradley Vaughn.
