Rev. Victor “Vic” Wallace, born September 8,1930, of Knoxville, TN, formerly of Kingsport, peacefully went to be with the Lord on September 6, 2024. A beloved father & popa in the ministry, Rev. Wallace devoted his life to serving God and guiding others with unwavering faith and compassion.
Guided by the words of 2 Timothy 4:7-8, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing," Rev. Wallace embodied these principles though loving his family , the Word of God, loving the local church, being a soul winner, and never forgetting the importance of pastoral care.
His journey spanned 66 years of devoted gospel ministry, during which he served numerous congregations, including Colonial Heights Mission (an extension of Litz Manor Baptist Church), Glenwood Baptist Church (where he was ordained), Fall Creek Baptist Church, Flag Pond Baptist Church, Oak Hill Baptist Church, Fairview Baptist Church in Mohawk, First Baptist Church of Sulphur Springs, Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Mountain City, and his longest pastorate at First Baptist Church of Fall Branch from 1975 to 1999. His influence reached well beyond the church walls, profoundly impacting lives through his sermons, pastoral care, deep love for the Word of God, and his love for others.
Preceded in death by his precious wife of 68 years Dorothy “Dot” Wallace, his son Timothy K. Wallace, his daughter-in-law Cindy Wallace, great-grand daughter Londyn Marie Haynes, parents George and Emma Ruth Wallace, brother Elmer “Dick” Wallace (Louise), and sisters Helen Tranbarger (Tom) and Thelma Davidson (Roy “Cotton”). Rev. Wallace leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and service.
Surviving family includes granddaughters, Jocelyn Moore (Jason) and Justine Haynes (Justin); great-granddaughters, Kyleigh and Adalyn Worth; great-grandson, Mason Haynes; nieces and nephews; numerous friends and church members who cherished him dearly; his son in the ministry, Pastor Travis Tyler (Becki) of Elizabethton, Tennessee.
Friends and family will gather to celebrate his life and ministry on Saturday September 14,2024, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Receiving friends from 12-1. Funeral service at 1 with graveside service immediately following at Oak Hill Memorial Park. The service will honor his memory and contributions, with Pastor Travis Tyler and Rev. Al South leading the celebration of life with music by Chris and Kathie Depew.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites contributions to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, reflecting Rev. Wallace's commitment to spreading God's love, just as he did in life alongside his cherished wife, Dot.
Rev. Wallace’s life and legacy will forever inspire those who knew him and will continue to echo through the lives he touched. As Rev. Vic once humbly said, “I feel so little and so insignificant, but I have been made significant through the precious blood of Jesus and in His power.”
