Rev. William Paul Presley

Rev. William Paul Presley, 70, Kingsport, went to be with the Lord Sunday, January 4, 2015, at his home following an extended illness.

Paul was born in Scott County, VA, and resided in Kingsport for most of his life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army retiring from the Virginia National Guard. He was an active member of the American Legion Color Guard Posts 3/265. Paul had served as the Commander of Post #3. He served as pastor of Starnes Bend Freewill Baptist Church and New Beginning Freewill Baptist Church. Recently Paul attended First Freewill Baptist Church of Morrison City.

He was preceded in death by his son, William Paul Presley II, and parents, Clyde and Genevieve Presley.

Paul is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Mary Ann Grills Presley of the home; daughter, Sherry Nelson and son-in-law, Larry, Kingsport; son, Joseph Presley and daughter-in-law, Diana, Alexandria, VA; one grandson, Trevor Scott Nelson, Kingsport; brothers, Stanford Presley and wife, Lakie, Gate City, VA, John Douglas Presley and wife, Tommie, Gate City, VA, C.H. Presley Jr. and wife, Jane, Duffield, VA; five sisters, Doris Johnson, Ft. Blackmore, VA, Joan Austin, St. Paul, VA, June Presley, Gate City, VA, Charlotte Price and husband, Dennis, Gate City, VA, and Bronya Rhymer and husband, Eric, Bristol, TN; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm on Tuesday at First Freewill Baptist Church of Morrison City. The service will follow at 7 pm with Pastor Brian Capps and Rev. Barry Kenny officiating.

The graveside service will be at 11 am on Wednesday at Oak Hill Memorial Park with military honors conducted by American Legion Posts #3/265 .

Pallbearers will be Joseph Presley, Trevor Nelson and American Legion Color Guard members.
