Reva Henry, 67, of Kingsport went to live with Jesus Saturday afternoon 7-9-11 at Bristol Hospice House after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was a lifelong resident of Sullivan County. Reva retired from Quebecor in 2004 after many years of service. She enjoyed feeding and watching birds and all of the wildlife around her home. Reva was an avid Lady Vol and Indianapolis Colts Fan. She played on a semi-pro basketball teama"the All American Red Headsa"and during the 1960's and 70's she also played basketball and softball on city league and travelling teams. Reva was an active member of Wheeler United Methodist Church for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elbert Eli and Mamie Bowery Henry; a brother, Kyle Henry; and a sister, Mary Katherine Henry.
Survivors include 2 sisters, Betty Jo Norris of Elk Park, NC, Jane Johnson and husband, Charlie, of Blountville; 5 brothers, Carl Henry of Piney Flats, Donald Henry and wife, Jean of Ft. Myers, FL, E.B. Henry and wife, Barbara, Bobby Henry and wife, Judy, and Jerry Henry and wife, Nancya"all of Blountville; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; special friends Ann Lacy Rose, Betty Sue Poe, Carolyn Reed, and Vanis Cutshall; and 2 dogs, Boone Dog and Sadie.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday July 12, 2011 at Wheeler United Methodist Church. Funeral services will follow at the church with Rev. Stuart K. Albee officiating.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Tri-Cities Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Barkley Mills, Gary Olinger, Paul Brady, Randel Taylor, Clayton Farmer, and Mark Henry. Honorary pallbearers will be the Men of Wheeler United Methodist Church
