Rex A. Franklin, 57, of Kingsport, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Rex was born in Kingsport where he was a lifelong resident and a lifelong excavator with 17 years of service with Vic Davis Construction. He was a motorcycle enthusiast.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Lula Franklin; sister, Marie Monk; and brother, Dan Franklin.
Rex is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Barger and husband, Brian of Kingsport, Avari Bellamy and husband, Ethan of Church Hill; four grandchildren, Chelsey Barger, Emily Barger, Michael Bellamy and Summer Bellamy; two sisters, Patricia Graham and husband, Walter of Kingsport, Carolyn Adams and husband, Tommy of Kingsport; three brothers, Clifton Franklin and wife, Georgia of Kingsport, William Franklin and wife Elizabeth of Church Hill, Charlie Franklin and wife, Ann of Kingsport; brother-in-law, Gerald Monk; several nieces and nephews; and "Little Brother", John Begley.
Special thanks to his caregivers, Christopher Franklin and Peter "Yankee" Belli.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Services will follow at 8 p.m. with Pastor Don Castle officiating.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Old Kingsport Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Nephews and friends will serve as pallbearers.
