Rhonda S. Costella

Rhonda S. Costella, 65, daughter of John and Shirley Walters, of Kingsport, Tennessee passed away peacefully at her home on the evening of June 27, 2024, surrounded by her family. Rhonda ended her courageous journey with cancer exactly as she lived her life – with kindness, compassion, consideration, and grace – and she now stands at the feet of Jesus! 

 She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Steven Costella. 

Rhonda is survived by her three children, Cristy Eagan (Bobby), Jennifer Bolling (Alex), and Jonathan; grandchildren, Kaitlyn McClain, Brayden Eagan, Sarah Jane Bolling, Benjamin Bolling, Emersyn Costella, Hudson Costella; brother and wife John and Gwen Walters; sister Moretta Cretsinger; and several nephews. 

 She was born in Kingsport, Tn and lived in Maryland until moving back to Kingsport in 1994. 

 Rhonda began her career as a bank teller at 20, and she appreciated the many relationships she formed with coworkers and customers alike throughout those 45 years. 

 She found a love for basketball and softball in her youth and continued to find joy in shooting hoops in the driveway as a simple past time. Rhonda enjoyed the simple pleasures of life tending to yard work, picking strawberries, family vacations and scrapbooking. 

 Her Christian faith was evident through her gentleness and devotion. She was an active member of Harvest Community Church where she loved teaching in their children’s ministry. She will be treasured by all for her sweet, generous spirit and the many ways that she selflessly loved and served. 

 Rhonda’s family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude for the love, support and kindness given by the nurses and staff they were provided at Signature Health Care of Elizabethton, Centerwell Home Health and Gentiva Hospice. 

 The family will receive friends at Hamlett Dobson Funeral Home in Kingsport on Sunday, June 30 from 12:00 until 2:00pm; the service will be held at 2:00pm with Pastor Bud Beverly officiating. Graveside will immediately follow the service at Liberty Hill Cemetery, Mount Carmel, TN.

 Pallbearers will be Johnny Walters, Bobby Eagan, Alex Bolling, Brayden Eagan, Chris Walters, William Byington. Honorary pallbearers will be Ted Collins and Bobby Walters.
