Richard "RW" Ford, 91, Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 21, 2009.
Mr. Ford served in the U. S. Army in the European Theatre with the 119th Infantry Company E during World War II. He worked at Tennessee Eastman for 44 years.
Mr. Ford was a member of Crossroads United Methodist Church. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Richard and Kate Ford; and sisters, Ruth Owens and Reva Salyer.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Virginia Ford; two daughters, Kathryn Ford and Melinda Hood and husband Robin, all of Kingsport; two grandsons, Jacob Hutchison and Ben Painter; nephew, Brent Salyer; and several other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Rev. Randy Lantz and Rev. H. Rae Mullins officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 12 noon Monday at Oak Hill Memorial Park with military rites by the American Legion Post #3/265.
Pallbearers will be Robin Hood, Jacob Hutchison, Ben Painter, H. Rae Mullins, Henderson Hood, and Josh Price. Honorary pallbearer will be Brent Salyer.
