Richard "Rick" Bruce Hensley, 63, of Kingsport, is rejoicing with his Saviour after passing away peacefully at his home on Friday, January 6th, 2012 after a brief battle with cancer. "Praise His Holy name!"
Rick was born in Oak Ridge, TN on May 20, 1948 moving to Kingsport in 1960. He later served his country for 13 months in Vietnam with the U. S. Army.
He was an electrician by trade for over 30 years and was also owner and operator of Honey Do Handyman Service. Rick not only enjoyed working for his customers, he valued their friendship.
Rick was a lover of people, golf, and the outdoors and received the most joy in life out of making people laugh. However, most importantly, he was a sinner saved by Grace through faith in Jesus Christ.
Rick was a member of Springdale Missionary Baptist Church and served as Leader of the Fellowship Team where he served Christ through serving people.
His parents, Bruce and Rachie Gass Hensley, preceded him in death.
Rick is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Debra Byrd Hensley; sister, Linda Deal and husband Jim; brother, Leonard Hensley and fiancée Sherry Howard; and several special nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at Springdale Missionary Baptist Church. A celebration of life service will follow with Pastor Alan Buckles officiating.
The graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Oak Hill Memorial Park with military graveside rites by the American Legion Posts #3/265. Several of Rick's closest friends will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Springdale Missionary Baptist Church, 1616 Haga Road, Kingsport, TN 37664.
