Richard "Pete" O. King, 57, of Kingsport passed away Friday, June 27, 2014 at his home following ongoing health issues.
Born in Williamsburg, VA he spent most of his youth in Louisiana. Pete was the son of William King and the late Nora Hubbard King. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of Reservoir Road Baptist Church. He loved red fishing, like to draw and loved animals, especially cats. Pete was an avid LSU and New Orleans Saints fan and loved to spend his weekends watching football with Sean, who he dearly loved and was extremely proud of him, his accomplishments and the person he has become. He loved Louisiana's cajun food and loved to cook for his family and friends.
In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by an infant brother.
Survivors include his loving wife of 25 years, Debra Williams King of the home; son Sean William King of the home; father, William King of Pearl River, Louisiana; brother Steve King and wife, Gwen of Bogalusa, Louisiana; niece Andrea Swanner; nephew, Chad King and wife, Tiffany; great niece, Aubrey Swanner, all of Bogalusa, Louisiana; and special family pets, Princess and Pippa.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, June 30, 2014 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Service will follow at 7 p.m. in the Chapel with Pastor Keith Smith officiating.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Oak Hill Memorial Park with Rev. Elmo Owens officitaing.
