Richard "Dick" Lowe, 61, 112 Scotland Road, Kingsport, died early Monday afternoon, August 18, 2008, at his home.

Born in Chattaroy, West Virginia, he was a graduate of Williamson High School in Williamson, West Virginia. Dick was a graduate of Capital City Business College in Charleston, West Virginia and completed his Masters Degree in Divinity at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. He pastored numerous Baptist churches in West Virginia, and had lived in Kingsport for the last 20 years.

He was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Michael Lowe; and his father, Roscoe E. Lowe.

Surviving are his wife, Katherine Kane Lowe of Kingsport; three sons, Richard Ellsworth Lowe Jr. and wife Missy of Raleigh, NC, James Gavin Lowe and wife LeAnn of Beckley, West Virginia, and Joshua Andrew Lowe of Johnson City; a stepdaughter, Sarah Pippin and husband Blair of Orlando, Florida; six grandchildren, Rich, Ashlyn, Ryan, J. R., Zachary, and Hunter Lowe; one step-grandson, Aiden Pippin; his mother and stepfather, Nellie Gearhart Wright and Leonard Wright of Beckley, West Virginia; one brother, John Lowe and wife LaCreda of Maryville, TN; and his beloved dog, Riley.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Higher Ground Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the church with Dr. Phil Hoskins officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at East Lawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to Higher Ground Baptist Church, 1625 Lynn Garden Drive, Kingsport, TN 37665; or Campus Crusade for Christ, 10360 Sandy Marsh Lane, Orlando, FL 32832.
