Rickey "Cool Pop" Cooley, 54, Greeneville, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 27, 2015, at his home, following a lengthy illness. Born in Aurora, IL, he was raised in Bluefield, WV and had resided in Greeneville for most of his adult life. Rickey was formerly employed as a welder with Jacobs Construction Company. He loved to fish, to camp, four wheeling, building engines and woodworking. Rickey was a father of two and an inspirational father to many.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Cooley and his nephew, Jason Elswick.
Rickey is survived by his wife of 35 years, Diana Cooley of Greeneville; daughter, Angie Presley and husband, Brandon of Abingdon, VA; son, Justus Cooley of Mooresburg, TN; grandson, Bennett Jason Presley; mother, Velvie Cooley of Bluefield, WV; sister, Pam Elswick and husband, David of Tazwell, VA; two brothers, William Cooley and wife, Tammy of Bluefield, WV, and Chris Cooley of Dublin, VA; special nephews, Blair Cooley and Ethan Cooper; and special nieces, Sarah Cooper, Katie and Kristen Smith.
A special thanks to MSHA Hospice, MSHA friends, and neighbors and friends at Jacobs Construction Company for the love and care shown for Rickey.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4-5:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Fall Branch. A Memorial Service will follow at 5:00pm with Rev. Omar Burns officiating.
