Ricky Copas, 57, Kingsport, passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2013. He retired in 2001 from T.V.A., loved NASCAR and hunting. Rick was a loving husband, father, papaw, son, brother and friend to many.
He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Verlin Copas, and brother, Larry David.
Ricky is survived by his wife, Vickie Lynn Sparks Copas of Kingsport; daughter, Jennifer Lynn Willis and husband, Nathan of Kingsport; son, Jeremy Lee Copas and wife, Melissa of Kingsport; grandchildren, Kaitlynn, Ashlynn, Myra Grace and Landon; mother, Gladys Florine Copas of Kingsport; brother, Bill Copas and wife, Diane; sister, Candy Burleson and husband, Gary of Kingsport; brother, Gary Copas of Kingsport; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 19th from 1-3:00 pm at Eastern Star Freewill Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 pm with Rev. Kevin Rose and Rev. Danny Willis officiating. Burial will follow at Eastern Freewill Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Copas, Nathan Willis, Mike Spears, David Spears, Shaun Copas, Bill Copas, Kenneth Wilkerson, Carl Shepherd and Dean Shepherd. Honorary pallbearers will be Rod Sparks, Brandon Burleson, Gary Burleson, Gary Copas, Gerald Cox, Joshua Sparks, Thomas Sparks, Jr., Thomas Sparks, III, and Ronnie Long.
