Riley M. Kilgore, 82, of Kingsport passed away Wednesday morning May 2, 2007 at his home.
He was born in Dickenson County, Virginia on October 10, 1924. Riley served proudly during World War II in the Army Air Force in the Pacific Theater. He retired from Holston Auto Supply after 31 years. After retiring he volunteered at the Mountain Home Veterans Hospital for 12 years. He was a member of Bethany Old Regular Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and assistant clerk for several years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Elihue Kilgore and his mother, Camey McCoy Kilgore, one brother Emory Kilgore, one sister and brother in law Rosa and Pat Marshall.
His first wife of 17 years Hazel Kilgore, two sons Gerald and Kenneth Kilgore, one daughter Lucinda Kilgore and one granddaughter Laura Kilgore.
He is survived by his second wife Delphia Yates Kilgore of 39 years, one son Perry Kilgore, two daughters Marcella and husband Bill Farmer, Malinda and husband Doug Moore, five grandchildren, Jason Farmer, Matthew Kilgore, Melody and husband Jeff Castle, Camey Moore and Joshua Grimes, one great grandson Jeffrey Castle, and a special niece Lillie Kilgore, all of Kingsport.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Friday at Hamlett-Dobson in Kingsport and 12 ? 1 pm Saturday at Bethany Old Regular Baptist Church, or anytime at the home.
Funeral services will be at 1 pm Saturday at Bethany Old Regular Baptist Church on Morelock Street in Kingsport with Elder Robert Clay and Elder Walter Rose.
Graveside services will follow in the church cemetery with Pastor Jerry Musick officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post Number 3/265.
Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
