Robert Frank Bennett

Robert Frank Bennett, 89, of Kingsport, passed away August 1, 2015 at Asbury Place at Kingsport. Bob was a member of First Broad Street United Methodist Church.

Following graduation from Dobyns-Bennett High School in 1944, he was inducted into the 8th Air Force on February, 6, 1944 and served with the 507 Bomb Squadron until released from duty on May 19, 1946. He then attended Tusculum College.

Bob was first employed as a salesman at Huddle Electric, then later he worked for Johnson-Hilliard, Inc. for 54 years and was responsible for all heating, ventilating, and air conditioning designs and sales.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Inez Grubbs Bennett; his parents, Helen and Raymond Bennett; and brother, George R. Bennett.

Bob is survived by his sister, Dorothy B. Newsome; daughter, Jennifer Trumbo and husband, Zach; sons, Thomas R. Bennett and wife, Laura, and Timothy F. Bennett and wife, Lori; six grandchildren; step-daughter Susan Freeman, and step-sons, Michael Grubbs and wife, Mary Ruth, and Steven Grubbs and wife, Nadine; six step-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren.

An inurnment service will be held at 1:30 pm Saturday (August 8, 2015) at First Broad Street United Methodist Church Columbarium with a Flag Presentation by The American Legion.

A memorial service will follow in the church sanctuary at 2:00 pm Saturday with Rev. Jack P. Weikel and Rev. Joe Green officiating. The family will receive friends following services in the church parlor.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to First Broad Street United Methodist Church, 100 East Church Circle, Kingsport, TN 37660 or the organization of the donor's choice.

The family extends many thanks for the excellent care and love given by the medical staff and employees at Asbury Place.
