Robert "Bob" Bennett

Robert "Bob" Bennett, age 72, passed away unexpectedly from a stroke on Wednesday evening.

Bob was a Christian and an active member of Oak Grove Baptist Church for 49 years where he was serving as a teller. He enjoyed life to the fullest and loved Southern Gospel Music.

Bob worked several years in printing and law enforcement, which he loved and enjoyed.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Noonie Carpenter Bennett; brothers, Rev. William C. and wife Joyce of Maryville, A.T. and wife Virginia of Kingsport, Carl and wife B.J. of Jonesborough; sister, Margaret Horner of Georgia; nieces and nephews, Pat and Ron Akard, Leann Bennett, Dan and Amy Bennett, Mark Bennett, Amy and Kevin Millslagle, Brad Akard, Ruth Ann Liggett, David Liggett, Steve and Cindy Horner, Brook Liggett, Ray J. Bennett, Ray Bennett Jr, Kennedy Millslagle, Kylie and Shelby Bennett, Ron and Laurie Southerland, and Samantha Bennett; brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Patsy Byerley, George and Jean Ledbetter, Herman and Gladys McAninch, and Bill and Frances Whitmore; and special friends, Jim and Evelyn Dean.

Visitation will be Saturday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Mount Carmel. Funeral services will follow with Pastor Randy Pressnell officiating. Music will be provided by the Light House Quartet Doug Wagner, D.L. Smith, Joey Strickler, and Brent Whitmore.

Burial will follow the funeral services in Liberty Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bob's nephews, Scott Byerley, Steve Horner, Todd Jennings, Stoney McAninch, Brent Whitmore, Mike Wilson, Mark Bennett, and friend David Dean. Honorary pallbearers will be his "Honey Bunny" nieces and nephews, Jalana Jennings, Julia Wilson, Kim Walton, Kristi Madison, Tammy McAninch, Celeste Byerley, Suzanne Byerley, Courtney Wilson, Kinsley Jennings, Haylee McAninch, Piper Whitmore, Nicole Byerley Bob's pride and joy, Kade Jennings, Drew Byerley, Bridgette Whitmore, Baillee Walton and Lauren Horner.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in memory of Bob to Oak Grove Baptist Church or The Puppet Ministry, both at 311 Cypress Street; Mount Carmel, TN 37645.
