Robert "Bob" Joseph Cooper age 70 of Kingsport, TN went home to be with the Lord on July 30th, 2018 in the comfort of his own home. Bob was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa on February 24th 1948 a son of the late Donald Charles Cooper and Wilma Henley Cooper. Bob graduated from Twin Rivers High School in Bode, Iowa in 1966 and attended some college after, but soon decided he wanted to see more of the world. He traveled frequently and resided in Hawaii for a period of time before becoming more involved in his church doing missionary work in places such as Haiti. He met his wife of 45 years at Assembly of God Church in Columbia, Missouri, and he married Susan Palmer Browning on July 14th 1973 in Middletown, Ohio. As Bob and Sue began their lives together, they traveled and lived in several places such as Missouri, Hawaii, and California before finally settling down after the birth of their third child in Nashville, TN in the early 1980s. Bob was an avid photographer, guitar player, reader, and writer. His love of the literary works led to a career in print management at Thomas Nelson Publishing Company from which he retired in the mid 2000s.
Bob is preceded in his passing by his maternal grandparents Frank and Clara Henley, paternal grandparents George and Essie Cooper, mother Wilma Henley Cooper, father Donald Charles Cooper, older brother Gary Cooper, and brother-in-law Mike House.
Left to have fond memories are his wife of 45 years Susan Palmer Cooper; daughter Allison Davis, son-in-law Jym Davis, and their son Adrian Davis; daughter Elizabeth Cooper McNutt, son-in-law Jonathan McNutt, and their children Elijah Soren McNutt and Alaina Katherine Jean McNutt; son Andrew Donald Cooper; sister Nancy Cooper House; brother Randy Cooper; sister-in-law Eleanor Cooper; brother-in-law William Browning; niece Lori House Winkler; nephew Bob House; nephew David Cooper; nephew Jeff Cooper; niece Pam Cooper McCarville; niece Chris Cooper Fuller; niece Sara Cooper; niece Katie Cooper Kreiss; niece Mayce Cooper; niece Naomi Browning Black; nephew Jesse Browning; nephew Seth Browning; nephew Zack Browning; special friends Melinda and Joey Dobler, Joanna and Michael Strycharz, Grace Vogelsberg, Bridgette Hensley, Rebecca Crawford, Stephanie Gragg, and Tiarra Strong; his cat Sir Echo aka "Thumper".
The family is having a visitation at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home at 117 E. Charlemont Ave., in Kingsport on Saturday August 4th, 2018 from 11am-1pm. The funeral will follow at 1pm in the chapel with Pastor William Browning officiating. Burial will follow committal services at the Garden of the Apostles at East Lawn Memorial Park at 4997 Memorial Blvd, Kingsport, TN 37664.
