Robert "Bob" Linville Grills, Sr

Robert "Bob" Grills, Sr., 87, Kingsport, TN passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at his home following a brief illness. Born September 14, 1928, he had lived in Kingsport his entire life. Bob worked at Kingsport Press for 44 years as a bookbinder and supervisor. Before and after his retirement from the Press Bob pursued his love of antiques, books, art, and records at the Haggle Shop on Broad and Commerce St. in Kingsport, starting the first Haggle Shop in the Midfields section of Kingsport.

Bob served his country as a sergeant in the Korean War and was a lifetime member of the American Veteran/Korean War Legion. He had a love of the City of Kingsport and was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Kate Grills; sister, Margaret Harris, (Bill); three brothers, Rev. Charles and wife, Fern, Dayton and wife, Emma and James Grills; and great-grandson, Atlas Jackson Gartner.

Bob is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 62 years, Joyce; son, Robert Grills, Jr.; daughter, Kimberly Burke (Ed Kennedy); granddaughter, Brittany Burke (Michael); great-grandson, Skylar Burke; brothers and sisters-in-law, Brenda Phillips (Bobby), Wanda Johnson (Roy), Peggy Ubernosky, Thelma Honaker, Thomas Lockhart, and Allen Lockhart (Joann); several nieces, nephews and cousins; and many, many friends.

Thanks to Wellmont Hospice nurses, Becky, Sherry, Skye, Rhonda and Robin for their gentle support and care.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5-7:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The memorial service will follow at 7:00 p.m.
