Robert Haynes Browder

Robert Haynes Browder, 78, Kingsport, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at his home after a lengthy illness.

He retired after 40 years of service from Holston Defense Corporation.

Mr. Browder was of the Baptist faith and attended Fellowship Free Will Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, and brother.

His parents, Alfred and Vona Browder; and two sisters, Nancy Browder and Bessie Ruth Owens preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife of 57 ½ years, Elizabeth Cleo Browder of the home; two sons, Mike Browder of Greenville, SC and Steve Browder of Kingsport; one grandson; two sisters, Irene Eidson of Bulls Gap, TN, Minnie Kate Johnson and husband Carl of Gray; six brothers, George Carroll Browder and wife Betty of Kingsport, Gordon Kyle Browder and wife Geneva of Kingsport, Major Browder and wife Mona of Gray, Wayne Browder and wife Jane of Gray, Clarence Browder of Church Hill, and Paul Browder and wife Ann of Unicoi; special niece, Carolyn "Kay" Browder and husband John C.; and several other nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Services will follow at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Elder Scott Tipton officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Alan Browder, Charlie Lane, Wayne Browder, Major Browder, Justin Hopkins, and Frank Mullins.

Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society, c/o Wanda Grills, 1217 Radcliffe Avenue, Kingsport, TN 37664.

The family would like to thank Adventa Hospice nurses, Pam Demarrais RN and Sandra Nadeau RN.
