Robert (Bob) Lee Burns

Robert died peacefully under the care of hospice on Monday, December 11, 2023, after a long battle with multiple myeloma.  He would like to be remembered as a graduate of Sullivan High School, a career Air Force (23 years) retired MSgt/E-7, a 21-year long haul trucker, a 5-year city school bus driver, and an avid ham radio operator.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dana Burns.

Bob is survived by his mother, Polly Burns; his wife, Anne Burns; two sons, Richard Burns and Robert Burns (Michele); sister, Mary Spears (Ike); stepson, Charles Ruffner; nieces, Melissa Spears and Cindy Chandler; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at East Lawn Memorial Park. Those wishing to attend are asked to gather at the graveside by 12:45 p.m.

The family thanks the offices of Dr. Schrenker and Dr. Shipstone, Ballad Health Palliative Care and Hospice, and the staff of HVMC Wilcox Hall third floor for their kindness and care.
