Robert Lewis Carter, 68, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord suddenly Monday, July 2, 2007, at his home,
He was a very active member of Arnold?s Chapel Church and Bethel Holiness Church where he played guitar and sang. Lewis was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was loved by all his family and will be dearly missed.
His father, Herbert Lawrence Carter, preceded him in death.
Surviving are one son, Robert Lewis Carter Jr. and wife, Teresa of Knoxville; one daughter, Linda Richardson and husband, Bobby, of Kingsport; four grandchildren, Brandi Russell, Tammy Hobbs and husband, Lance, Phillip Carter, Shiane Carter; six great-grandchildren, Will Guy, Jake Hobbs, Abigail Hobbs, Ashley Marie Hobbs, Corieon Seckler, Corbain Seckler; his mother, Ruby Carter; four sisters, Nannie Harmon, Treva Wire, Brenda Morelock, Sharon Goss and husband, Willie, all of Kingsport; two brothers, James Lawrence Carter and wife, Charlotte, Kingsport, Gerold Lynn Carter, Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Roy Brickey and Rev. Garland Tipton officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday at Tri-Cities Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Robert ?David? Carter, Lawrence Carter, Andrew ?A.J.? Carter, Charles ?Chubby? Carter, Willie Goss, and John Qualls.
