Robert Phil Chatman, Sr., 91, went to meet his Heavenly Father on April 4, 2013. Mr. Chatman spent his last months in the care of the wonderful staff of the Richard M. Campbell Veterans Home in Anderson, SC. A life long resident of Fall Branch, TN, he spent most of his years on the farm where he grew up while working for 37 years in the Acids Division of Eastman Kodak Company in Kingsport. He proudly served in the Army Air Corp during WWII where he worked as a mechanic on several different types of aircraft. He was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Fall Branch, TN, where he served as chairman of the deacons, Sunday School teacher and much loved member of the choir for over 50 years.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years, Mary Imogene Bacon Chatman on April 4, 2004; a son, Jerry Robert Chatman; father and mother, James and Nanny Chatman; brothers, John, Paul, Jess, Foy, Gomer and Russell; and sisters, Mary Frances Chatman, Maude Kelley, Tempie Chatman, and Lucy Jackson.

Robert is survived by a daughter, Jessica C. Goodwin and his beloved son-in-law, Larry Goodwin, of Pendleton, SC; son, Bobby of Kingsport; grandsons, Julius Goodwin and friend, Aidra Ruckman, and Chris and Jodi Goodwin; his adored great-grandson, Jacob Christopher Goodwin, all of Atlanta; sisters-in-law, Ruth Mrs. Russell Chatman of Fall Branch, Grace Bacon Mrs. J.B. Fitzgerald of Gray, and Edna Mrs. Ray Bacon of Johnson City; plus many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 pm Monday, April 8th, 2013, at the First Baptist Church of Fall Branch. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the church. Presiding minister will be the Rev. Carl Strickler assisted by the Rev. Shawn Cutshall. Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery with military honors provided by American Legion Posts 3/265.

Pallbearers will be Charles Fitzgerald, Steve Fitzgerald, Rex Chatman, Jerry Chatman, Dommie Jackson and Travis Chatman.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Choir Robe Fund, 1525 Highway 93, Fall Branch, TN, 37656 or to the Fall Branch Fire Department & Rescue Squad, 106 Ruritan Rd, Fall Branch, TN, 37656.
