Robert "Bud" Clonce, 89, Kingsport, passed peacefully to his heavenly home surrounded by loving family on Monday, May 12, 2014. Robert proudly served during WWII in the 7th infantry of the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Germany and Austria. He owned and operated Pirate's Grill for several years and so enjoyed serving hot dogs to the school kids.
Robert was a great friend to everyone who knew him. He loved to socialize with his square dancing and round dancing friends and could usually be found at a local ballroom dance on weekends. He was very proud of his home and lawn, always wanting the flowers to look nice for all who came to visit him.
Robert was most proud of his family. His loving wife of 65 years, Dot, was his companion, caretaker and devoted soul mate who would not leave his side. His only daughter, Terry Stocton, was his joy in all things and his son-in-law, Eddie Stocton, was more of a son than he could have wished for. Other survivors include his sisters, Ruth Beverly, Jean Clonce and Patsy Southers; brother, Sammy Clonce; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friends Joe and Nellie Todd and Jackie Morelock.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday at 3:00 pm at East Lawn Memorial Park. Friends attending the service are asked to meet at the cemetery between 2:30 and 3:00 pm on Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 207 North Boone St., Johnson City, TN 37604.
