Doug Coleman, of Kingsport, passed away December 25, 2011 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. He was born in Kingsport and lived here his entire life. Doug was a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School and ETSU, with a B.S. in chemistry. He served in the U.S. Army, assigned to the Chemical Corp. After leaving the Army he was employed at The Tennessee Eastman Company for 34 years. Doug served on the local board of Goodwill Industries for 13 years, serving 2 years as President and Second Chairman of the Board. In 1994 he was selected Goodwill Man of the Year.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anna Lou and Arthur "Red" Coleman, brother, Mike Coleman and first wife, Winifred Coleman.
Doug is survived by his wife, Pat Coleman; sons, Scott Ward and wife, Julie; Glenn Ward and wife, Donna; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; niece, Melissa Carrigee and husband, Bill; 2 grandnephews, Logan Jones and Ben Carrigee.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 30, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at First Broad Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Jack Weikel officiating.
