Robert "Bob" Crawford, born March 6, 1927, in Wise, VA, went to be with the Lord surrounded by his loving family on Monday, June 29, 2009.
Bob was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Navy and was a lifetime member of the VFW. He was retired from Brooks Enterprises, Inc. He enjoyed talking with family and friends and loved to feed the birds.
His wife of 56 years, Jennie Porter Crawford; mother and father, John and Iona Crawford; sister, Helen Hite; brother, Raymond Crawford; and great-granddaughter, Aubrey Marlena Rigsby preceded him in death.
Surviving are four sons and their wives, Hugh and Karen Crawford of Gray, Gary and wife Terri Crawford of Fall Branch, Jimmy and wife Judy Crawford of Kingsport, and Stanley and wife Ginger Crawford of Greeneville; three daughters, Linda and husband Clayton Powers of Kingsport, Patsy and husband Danny Dillow of Fall Branch, and Carolyn and husband Kevin Buck of Jonesborough; eleven grandchildren, Tony Crawford, Stephanie Lott, Gene Crawford, Andrea Crawford, Jamie Pritt, April Rigsby, Clarissa Lane, Danielle Mitchell, Augusta Crawford, Sabra Thornton, and Dalton Buck; fourteen great-grandchildren, Jake Crawford, Grace Crawford, Libby Lott, Ella Claire Lott, Sarah Lott, Dustin Crawford, Haley Crawford, Olivia Pritt, Alyssa Pritt, Dillon Rigsby, Cheyenne Rigsby, Hannah Lane, Saleah Arnold, and Colton Thornton; two sisters, Wanda and husband Willis Forbes of Rising Sun, MD, and Blanche and husband Phillip Lightner of Fall Branch; seven brothers, Austin Crawford of Blountville, Kermit and wife Sue Crawford, Bill Crawford, John Crawford, Jr., and Jerry Crawford, all of Fall Branch, Charles and wife Mona Crawford of Kingsport, and Jack and wife Linda Crawford of Jonesborough; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Fall Branch. Funeral services will follow at 8:00 p.m. with Rev. John Crawford and Rev. Harold R. Morelock officiating. Music will be provided by Jerry Smith and Karen Crawford.
