Robert L. Gregory

Robert L. Gregory, 71, of Kingsport, passed away Friday, September 18, 2009 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.

Born in Russell County, VA, he had resided in Kingsport most of his life and was a graduate of Sullivan High School. Robert was a retired heavy equipment operator, having worked last for Vic Davis Construction. He loved fishing and the outdoors.

His parents, D. B. and Irene Gregory preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Clara Lee Conkin Gregory, Kingsport; daughter, Tammy Gregory, Kingsport; son, Todd Gregory and wife Lisa, Kennesaw, GA; two grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Thomas Gregory; two sisters, Carrie Penley and Nancy Ward, both of Kingsport; one brother, Raymond "Shorty" Gregory and wife Susie, Kingsport; two sisters-in-law, Velvia Armstrong, Kingsport and Dorothy Conkin, Fall Branch; several nieces and nephews; special friend, George Spears; and grand-dog, "Bo".

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. A memorial service will follow at 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Evangelist Chuck Grimm officiating.
