Robert W. Holt, 72, Jonesborough, TN, died early Thursday morning at his home after a long bout with cancer.
Bob was born in Macon, GA, and had resided in Kingsport for a number of years. He was a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School, class of 1960. He then attended ETSU where he received his BS degree. Bob served in the U.S. Army for four years. He retired from the FBI where he was a special agent. After retirement, he enjoyed wine making and wood working and he was an avid UT fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James I. Holt and Eva Holt.
Bob is survived by his wife, Linda S. Holt of the home; one son, Tanner N.S. Holt, Jonesborough, TN; brother, James I. Holt, Jr., Gatlinburg, TN; sister-in-law, Beverly Hammon and husband, Dr. Mat Hammon; brother-in-law, Paul E. Snapp, Jr., and wife, Ellen; sister-in-law, Suzanne Mann and husband, Anthony; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Amedisys, especially Mellie, for their loving care.
The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 pm on Saturday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The service will follow at 1 pm with Roger Sowder officiating.
