Robert James Seale

Robert James Seale passed away July 27, 2018, at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee. RJ was born in Rose Hill, Virginia to Mary Giles Seale and C. Smith Seale. He served in the United States Navy on the USS Columbia in World War II. It was while serving in the Navy he was injured during the shelling of Balikpapan, which resulted in his eventual deafness. However, RJ never let his hearing impairment stop him from living his life to the fullest. RJ married Anna Rae Hughes in 1949 and had two children, Bobby and David. RJ founded Tri-City Advertising Company, Inc. in Kingsport, Tennessee where he worked for over fifty years.
RJ is preceded in his passing by his mother and father, twin sisters Maranda and Mirinda, special sisters Bernice Giles Robinette and Elizabeth McDaniel Irwin and his wife of sixty years, Anna Rae Seale.
Left to have fond memories are his older son Bobby, daughter-in-law Charleen, and their children Robert, Pamela, John, Jackson and his wife Allison, and MaryAnn, her partner DJ, and their daughter, RJ'S beloved great-granddaughter Poppy; and RJ's younger son David, daughter-in-law Gayla, and their children Anthony, Amanda, and Laura.
The family is having a visitation at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home at 117 E. Charlemont Ave., in Kingsport, on Monday, July 30, 2018, from 4 to 6 PM. The funeral will follow at 6 PM in the chapel at Hamlett-Dobson with Rev. Amy Probst officiating. Burial will be in the mausoleum at East Lawn in Kingsport on July 31, 2018, at 9 AM.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial gifts be made to Mafair United Methodist Church at 1409 East Center Street in Kingsport, TN 37664.
