Robert (Bob) E. Kirk

Robert “Bob” Emory Kirk, 80, passed away on July 1, 2019 following a brief illness.  A life-long resident of Kingsport, Bob was born on August 28, 1938. He was a 1956 graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School and went on to attend the University of Tennessee as well as East Tennessee State University. He proudly served in the United States Army for four years. After his military service Bob worked at Eastman Chemical Company for over 40 years.

For many years Bob played the trombone as a member of both The Has Beens and the Kingsport Community Band. He generously gave of his time to both his church and the community.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Feral Kirk.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Martha Dominguez Kirk, four daughters Lisa Bailey (Scott) of Coppell, TX, Patsy Kirk of Fairhope, AL, Becky Lockhart (Mark) of Birmingham, AL, and Teresa Allen (Tony) of Birmingham, AL. He is also survived by five grandchildren; Evan and Connor Bailey, and Haley, Ryan, and Jack Lockhart.

The visitation will be held on Saturday, July 6, from 1 until 2:00 pm at St. Dominic Catholic Church with a funeral mass to follow at 2 pm with Father Michael Cummins officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Bob to the American Cancer Society, 871 N. Weisgarber Rd., Knoxville, TN 37909.
