Robert Lee (Bob) Hash Sr

Robert Lee (Bob) Hash, Sr., 88, of Kingsport passed away peacefully in the presence of his family at Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, Alabama on May 16, 2018. He was born on February 21, 1930 in McComas, West Virginia. He served in the U.S. Navy following World War II before attending ETSU, where he completed his BS and MS degrees in Chemistry. He also served in the Army Reserve and Tennessee National Guard during the 1950's-1960's. Bob worked 10 years with North American Rayon Corporation in Elizabethton. In 1962 he worked with Radford Army Ammunition Plant in Radford, Virginia until moving to Kingsport in 1965 to work with Holston Army Ammunition Plant for 25 years. Bob attended Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Minnie Edith and George D. Hash, his two brothers, John D. and Steve Hash.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Judy Haws Hash; two sons, Dr. Robert Lee Hash, II and wife, Laura of Huntsville, Alabama and Dr. Mark Thomas Hash and wife, Karla Ruiz- Hash of Tallahassee, Florida; four grandchildren, Christopher, Alec, Mary Grace and Olivia Annalee; step-granddaughter, Francia Contreras; and several loving nieces and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm on Sunday, May 20, 2018 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm with The Rev. Mr. J. Thomas Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Lawn Cemetery in Jonesborough with Military Honors by American Legion Posts 3/265.

Pallbearers will be Jess Turner, Nancy Rachel, Frank Haws, Jr., Tim Wright, Christopher Hash, Alec Hash, and Randy Steadman. Honorary pallbearers will be Quenton Tubb, Ray Garrison, Greg Pliler, Todd White, and Russell Ferguson, Steve Clark, and Joe Bender.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church, 213 Colonial Heights Road, Kingsport, TN 37663.
