Robert Leonard Maddux, 94, of 1216 Konnarock Rd., went home to be with his Savior on April 26, 2009.
In 1959, Leonard received Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." Romans 10:13. Because of this, his family can say with confidence, "to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord." II Cor. 5:8.
Leonard Maddux was born to Flanders and Lona McNutt Maddux of Hiltons, VA in 1915 and was the second of eight children. He married Odis Harris in 1935 and they were married for sixty-six years until her death in 2001. He retired from Eastman Kodak. Mr. Maddux was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Kingsport. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and a Shriner who loved helping with the disabled children.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his three sisters, Uva Maddux, Juanita Bays, Wilma Sue Wilson; two brothers, Earl Maddux and Ralph Maddux.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Kingsport.
Dwight L. Moody once said, "Someday you will read in the papers that Moody is dead. Don't you believe a word of it. At that moment I shall be more alive than I am now. I was born of the flesh in 1837, I was born of the spirit in 1855. That which is born of the flesh may die. That which is born of the Spirit shall live forever."
